Magnus Carlsen Breaks the Unbeaten Streak Record

Magnus Carlsen, the 29-year old world champion, has broken the world record unbeaten streak in standard chess time control games at 111. The previous record was 105 games established in 2005. The current unbeaten streak began in March and continued through the last 8 tournaments and individual matches. The streak rivals that of former world champion Jose Capablanca who during the 1920s went close to 6 years of tournament play while only suffering two defeats.
